St James News and Events for February - April

Save Our Spire Since the launch of the Save our Spire campaign we are pleased to announce that £10,400 has been raised. Over the coming months this money will be used to carry out repairs which are deemed necessary. It is believed that these repairs will prevent the condition of the spire declining further. In the mean time work needs to be carried out on the nave roof, so our fundraising efforts for 2024 will focus on a new campaign called “Raise the Roof”. It is hoped you will support our fundraising as generously for the roof campaign as you have for the spire campaign. Knit and Natter It is difficult to believe that it is only a year since Knit and Natter began. What a success it has been. 30 people have joined the group, of course not everyone can make every session but there are usually around 16 people at each session. It is an opportunity sit to knit and natter over a cup of tea or coffee and a biscuit or piece of cake. The group has made over 150 Christmas angels which were dotted around the parish, 30 pairs of cannula mitts, baby blankets and hats for premature babies at the PRUH, 120 worry worms for children starting school at Royal Park and 15 twiddles muffs which were taken to Baugh House in Sidcup. I would like to thank Ann Milcoy, Jenny Malster, Anne Wright, Sue Thompson and Lynn Key who keep it running on the 2^nd and 4^th Tuesday of every month. Please continue to tell people about the because all are welcome.	Ash Wednesday A reminder that we start Lent on the 14^th February with a service of Communion with Ashing. There will be a service at St Mary’s at 10am and St James North Cray will host the evening service at 7.30pm. Details of the services and events for Lent , Holy week and Easter will follow shortly.
