Congratulations to Revd Matt and Jen on the arrival of Hope Chloe 2.20 am Friday 12th November weighing 8lb 11 oz. A sister for Zac and Annie.

 

St Mary’s News The PCC has agreed the provision of a new church boiler and ancillary works. The work will be done as soon as our heating engineers can fit us in. Help needed- flower arranging, bell tolling before services and funerals, please see warden or vicar for further information.

 

Reverend Ken Holding

We are sad to inform you of the death of Reverend Kenneth Holding aged 94. His funeral will be held in Bedford on 2 December 2021 at 1.45pm. You can watch a livestream of the service by following this link www.obitus.com  username dimi3429   passcode 033463

Reverend Holding was Curate of St Mary’s Bexley from 1977 to 1980 and he was the first Minister in Charge of the Conventional District of St Barnabas, prior to it being made a parish in its own right in 1993. He then continued in parish ministry as Rector of Mereworth with West Peckham, and as a priest with permission to Officiate in the Diocese of York up until 2018. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends at this time.

Recital with new arrangements of Basque carols performed by leading harpist Gwen Mairi. Admission £10 on the door, cash only please. Refreshments included.

 

 When the Dark Clouds Lift?  A space to reflect on the experience of the pandemic  

The session will give space to reflect on the experience of the pandemic. What do I embrace? What do I need to let go of? What have we learnt?   There will be input, time for reflection and sharing in small groups. on Zoom: 27th of November 10am-12.30  Rev Susanne Carlsson is the Spiritual Adviser for Rochester Diocese and she is a teacher, spiritual director and retreat guide in the UK and Scandinavia. Event at Rochester Cathedral for ‘ the Global Moment’ on Saturday  27th November – organised by the Mothers’ Union To express our global concern for issues of gender-based violence we are asked to gather for a ‘global moment’  of solidarity and to record the event for sharing with the Central Charity . I invite you to meet me outside the Visitor Centre in Rochester High Street at 12.15pm We will then walk the short distance to the Cathedral and stop outside for prayers and readings led by Rev Jaqueline Littlewood. We hope to lunch at the pub opposite the Cathedral and plan to attend Evensong @3.15pm  Please allow enough time to park and consider travelling by train as it is the Dickens Festival that weekend. Friends of St Mary’s Christmas Bazaar Saturday 4th December 11.00 am – 2.00  pm St Mary’s Hall, Manor Road. Cakes and preserves, gifts, raffle, tombola, toys, knitted blankets and scarves, refreshments and hot lunches. There is a box at the back of the church (near the choir vestry door) for donations to the Bazaar  or they may be delivered to the Hall on the Friday evening between 4 and 6 pm.
